Marcy Robertson
    The Robertson Group was founded in 2002 with a mission is to help attorneys win cases.

    Our firm offers a unique combination of clinical nursing and consulting experience.

Nursing Experience
    Marcy has experience at three major hospitals in the operating room and cardio-pulmonary telemetry units. She worked as an operating room surgical nurse, first, with Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario (500 bed, 10 operating rooms) and then with Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, B.C. (1500 bed, 30 operating rooms).

    Her surgical nursing experience included scrubbing and circulating on cardiovascular, orthopedic and neurosurgical cases. She has additional experience in a broad range of general surgery, obstetrical, gynecological surgery, plus EENT (eye, ear, nose & throat) surgeries. In addition to work as a surgical nurse, she also gained experience in post anesthetic recovery room (PARR).

    In California, Marcy practiced within a cardiovascular and telemetry unit at Summit Hospital, Oakland, CA (500 beds).

Clinical Trials Experience
    Marcy is an expert in the medical record. She has reviewed hundreds of patient records in the course of screening, recruiting and managing patient data for clinical trials related to the following national studies:

  • ALLHAT Study (Antihypertensive Lipid Lowering Treatment to Prevent Heart Attack Trial) sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). This trial was one of the largest studies ever conducted - 42,000 patients with hypertension and comparing 4 major classes of antihypertensive drugs.

  • LIFE Study (Losartan Intervention for Endpoint Reduction in Hypertension) sponsored by Merck. This trial evaluated the effect of losartan versus atenolol on left ventricular hypertrophy measured by EKG in hypertensives over four years.

  • CIOP Study (Corticosteroid Induced Osteoporosis Prevention) trial sponsored by Procter and Gamble. This trial was a study of the prevention of steroid induced osteoporosis with use of drug Fosamax versus placebo. Beyond screening the medical records while coordinating clinical trials, she also managed the clinical trial legal administration with regard to Internal Review Board (IRB) regulations. Marcy has a solid understanding of GCP requirements and clinical quality assurance overviews for clinical trials.

    Legal Nurse Consulting
        Marcy has worked as a full time legal nurse consultant over the past twelve years offering continuous support to attorneys at Gordon & Rees, as well as two other major defense firms in San Francisco. She has also supported plaintiff attorneys. She has extensive experience reviewing the following types of cases:

    She has reviewed many types of cases including:
  • product liability with pharmaceuticals and medical devices
  • medical malpractice for hospitals, physicians, nurses, chiropractors and physical therapists
  • long term care
  • personal injury, including asbestos and mesothelioma
  • toxic torts, including detailed research, analysis, and summarization of multiple of mass tort personal injury claims arising out of alleged exposure to agricultural and industrial chemicals in the workplace, air or groundwater
